“I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it’s cold outside
I’ve got the month of May
I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way
My girl”
-The Temptations
Kaitlyn & Cooper’s love story is one for the ages. The two have known each other since elementary school, even playing soccer together in their formative years. However, it wasn’t until high school that their interest in each other began to turn to romantic.
When Kaitlyn was a sophomore and Cooper was a junior, he tried to “use his charm to steal her away from other boys”. Spoiler alert, it worked. After three months of Cooper’s flirting, he finally said “Will you just be my girlfriend already?” to which Kaitlyn replied, “About time!”. The couple debuted their relationship at a University of Virginia Soccer game with Kaitlyn’s parents as their chauffeurs and chaperones.
Almost a decade later, Cooper proposed to Kaitlyn on November 21 while on vacation in Savannah, Georgia. “They rented a cute VRBO in the middle of downtown Savannah that was walking distance to anything and everything. The morning after arriving, they went on a walk and explored all the squares. Cooper chose to wear a flannel on that 70-degree day to cover the fact that he was holding the ring box and ring in his shorts pocket. After finishing walking all the squares and settling down in the courtyard of the VRBO, Cooper got down on one knee, opened the ring box from his pocket, and said, ‘This is the real deal.’ Kaitlyn waited for the specific question as Cooper continued ‘Will you marry me?’ Of course, Kaitlyn said yes. As she took in the moment, her emotions caught up to her, and burst into tears because she knew the ring on her finger once belonged to Cooper’s great-grandmother and Kaitlyn felt honored that she was chosen to wear it.”
Kaitlyn & Cooper were married on May 21st, 2022 in Standardsville, Virginia.
Kaitlyn picked shades of blue as her wedding colors. When we asked her what three words would best describe her wedding day, she said “sentimental, surreal, and happy”.
The bridesmaids looked stunning in dresses in various shades of blue from Reverely and Azazie while the Groomsmen sported suits from Men’s Warehouse.
“They say opposites attract which is true but more specifically, I think that opposites balance each other out and make you grow together as a couple. Cooper and I very much resemble that. We also always treat one another with respect and love.” – Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn & Cooper’s ceremony took place at 4:30 p.m. with the Blue Ridge Mountains as the backdrop.
After finally saying I DO, it was time for Kaitlyn, Cooper, and their closest family and friends to party the night away.
Congrats to the Bretts, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love.
