Megan & Pieter 9/11/2021

“So This Is Love” – Cinderella

Some days are just made to be fairy tales. For Megan & Pieter, September 11, 2021 was one of those days. The prince and princess of this love story were married on a perfect early fall day in Lexington, VA. The bride wore a quintessential ballgown complete with Cinderella blue slippers, and the groom looked perfectly royal in his classic black tux. But it wasn’t the couple’s clothes that made the day perfect, it was their tale as old as time love.

Details

Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Megan’s meticulous planning made her wedding details perfection. And her Cinderella blue shoes were the perfect accessory for her fairy tale day. Can’t you just hear the bluebirds singing?

You may have seen Megan & Pieter’s guest book alternative mentioned in our Please Sign Our Guest Book blog post. We love the unique idea that can later double as home decor for the newlyweds.

If Lexington, Virginia had its own castle, this venue would be it. The Irvine Estate perfectly combines rustic lodge details with the elegance of a country ballroom. And the centerpieces from Florals by Emily were the perfect addition.

Bridal Party

Megan’s bridesmaid’s dresses matched the dusty pink color of her flowers and cake. And Pieter’s groomsmen looked dapper in their classic black tuxes.

Bride & Groom

One of our favorite parts of the wedding day are those last moments getting ready before the bride and groom see each other for the first time.

This couple planned their wedding day perfectly. The golden hour began just as the ceremony was ending and our portrait session was beginning. We love the way the light hit the foliage in the garden and made the perfect backdrop for the newlyweds.

There’s just something special about the timeless elegance of a black and white photo.

Ceremony

Megan’s Uncle Zig performed the ceremony with the Blue Ridge mountains in the background.

Reception

With the ceremony and cocktail hour complete, it was time for Megan & Pieter to celebrate with their closest family and friends.

We loved the neon sign the newlyweds set behind their cake. It made for the perfect Instagram moment as guests took photos at the reception.

It was a classic fairytale ball moment at the reception as Megan & Pieter, Megan & her father Edward, and Pieter & his mother Lucianne performed their choreographed dances for the wedding guests. Then the guests danced the night away before sending Megan & Pieter off with fanfare.

Congrats to Megan & Pieter! The best part about this fairy tale? Cinderella didn’t have to leave her prince (or her shoe) at the end of the night.
