For just a moment in time, we were just a boy and a girl, running and laughing in the rain on our wedding day. – Author: Mia Sheridan
They say April showers bring May flowers, but Carrie & Colton’s April 2021 wedding brought both showers and flowers. The unexpected rain meant some adjustments to the ceremony location but made for gorgeous wedding photos. And the flowers by Lindsey Zovko of Liliharp Flowers stole the show at the reception (though honestly, it’s a toss-up between the flowers and the killer bar by The Watering Hole). The magic that is a mountain spring wedding was on full display on Carrie & Colton’s special day.
Each and every detail for Carrie & Colton’s wedding was picked with care. From the vintage elements incorporated into the invitations to Colton’s cufflinks, every item fit perfectly. The reception tent was transformed into a country garden (just wait until you see the floral arrangements) making guests feel like they were eating among the wildflowers. We especially loved the Virginia ornaments that served as both napkin ring holders and wedding favors (hello double duty!). And because you never know what the weather will be like in April, Carrie and her wedding planner thought ahead and provided blankets for their guests.
We love the record that this music-loving couple had their guests sign in lieu of a guest book.
It’s hard for something to both become a gorgeous backdrop for an event while also being individually beautiful and the star of the show. Liliharp Flowers managed to create that magic with their arrangements for Carrie & Colton’s wedding. These arrangements fit the mood beautifully. The fact that almost the entire tent was covered in flowers also meant that Carrie didn’t have to do much else to decorate. She was able to let the flowers tell the story of the day. Stunning!
Carrie & Colton looked picture perfect in their wedding day best. The bride wore a lace gown by Maggie Sottero and the groom sported a Calvin Kline suit and boots from Dan Post. We loved the playful energy this couple had as they posed in their backyard with the Blue Ridge Mountains as their backdrop.
And not to be left out of the wedding pictures, the family dog, Rita.
When it began to rain on Carrie and Colton’s wedding day in April 2021, no one panicked. Instead, the couple pivoted and moved their ceremony to their tented reception location. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Mile Dodson of Tree of Life Ministries and in keeping with the tree theme, Carrie & Colton planted a tree as part of their unity ceremony. You may have seen their tree featured in our Unity Ceremony ideas blog from 2021.
It’s not every wedding album that you look at and think “were these photographs or stills from a movie?”. Carrie & Colton’s reception photos seem to jump off the screen and come to life before your eyes. Every time I look at them, I feel transported to a Hallmark movie set in the mountains. The newlyweds and their nearest and dearest danced the night away to music from The Bryan Knowles Band and DJ’d music from RSP Entertainment.
How many weddings have you been to with a pop-up bar? Carrie & Colton are definitely starting a trend with their bar from The Watering Hole. This bar came complete with a vintage green truck (what a photo-op).
And not to be outdone by the booze, Country Cupboard Catering did an excellent job on the food for the reception.
Finally, the gorgeous cake by Jacqui Wilson was the literal icing on the perfect spread.
At the end of this picture-perfect day, Carrie and Colton stood arm in arm as fireworks lit up the night sky. Is there any better way to end what will be the start of the rest of their lives? We think not.
