Yang and Michael met while interning at the University of Virginia. It was love at first sight and the two dated for over thirteen years before Michael proposed in January 2020 while the couple was hiking Big Sur in California.
Yang & Michael wanted to plan their wedding to have a backyard/house wedding feel, but with a fancy twist. They wanted as much of their décor as possible to be natural elements that integrated well with the space. It was important to them to highlight the venue in each of their decorating decisions.
We’re obsessed with Yang & Michael’s wedding photos. The couple wanted to showcase their connection in the photos and highlight their love and happiness.
The ceremony took place at 3:45 pm in the backyard of The Rocks in Smithfield, VA. Behind Yang & Michael was a serene backdrop of the James River.
Yang & Michael planned a small wedding with just 88 of their closest family and friends. It was important to them to feel connected to their guests and for their wedding to have a family feel. To Yang & Michael, these were the memories they wanted to capture from their special day.
We love how Yang & Michael used the space at their venue for their reception. It accentuated the at-home wedding feel the couple was going for.
Congrats to Yang & Michael. We wish you many years of happiness.
